Established in 2021, the primary goal of the NISQ Optical Computing Program, led by Dr Sergei Slussarenko at Griffith University, is the rapid development of a scalable noisy intermediate-scale optical quantum (NISQ) computing platform, suitable for BosonSampling, and similar NISQ applications. This goal will be approached on one side by developing a high-efficiency reconfigurable optical sampling platform, with an 8-mode device acting as a prototype. From the theory side, this program will collaborate with other research programs of CQC²T to investigate and optimise the circuit decompositions designs for optical NISQ sampling devices in order to enhance the scalability and applicability of the entire computational platform.
